We all need to get out in the outdoors once in a while, and Blackwell Trail in Grant County, Oregon
    is the outdoors at its best. The total elevation difference for this hiking trail is 2,286 feet, and that is about average. A long journey divides La Grande from Blackwell Trail, but when you spend some time backcountry hiking here you will feel like a whole new person. Splendid
hiking trails in Oregon are in abundance, and Blackwell Trail in Grant County is one of them. This is a one trailhead hiking trail, so you'll be hiking it in and back out. Throughout the warm months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Blackwell Trail; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. For the period of the winter this spot gets highs in the 30's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Blackwell Trail sink into the 10's. With its 7.6 miles of walking distance it's a mid length backcountry walk. This backcountry hike shouldn't  
take more than 7 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Keep in mind that this is a long hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. It is very dried out here at Blackwell Trail commonly; the wettest month of the year is commonly November, that's the one that rains the most, and July is when it's the driest. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. The length of this great outdoors hiking trail is about average with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this backpacking and hiking trail delightful for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Sometimes this hiking trail gets really dry, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. Different parts of Blackwell Trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the hiking trail.

Briefly about the general area:
All the outdoors enjoyable things in the Blue Mountains will keep you coming back repeatedly. Everybody loves China Meadow, and get soaked paddling on John Day River - North Fork. Blackwell Trail is a good place to camp, Corrigal Spring Campground is a good place, and a visit to Snowshoe Spring will fill your soul with great feelings.
You feel that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. If you yearn for a little side journey, try Bear Gulch, and some of the water nearby flows, like Rabbit Creek. Indian Creek is a splendid place to stop at, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Packsaddle Spring. Yeah, come up here to the Blue Mountains for a great time.
You'll need more than a day to discover everything Blackwell Trail has to offer, you can camp at Deerhorn Campground, and Moon Meadow is right here at Blackwell Trail.
