Oregon hiking trails - Blackwell Trail, Blue Mountains, Grant County

   
  Blackwell Trail is a long drive away from La Grande, but it's one of those spots where backcountry hiking is magnificent. Backcountry backpacking here in Oregon is a must. Oregon has plenty of fine backpacking trails, and Blackwell Trail in Grant County is one of them. There are numerous backpacking trails in Oregon, and each one is worth backcountry backpacking. This wilderness hiking trail is a normal length wilderness hiking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough hiking and backpacking trail for advanced trekkers
    looking for a great challenge. Here in the fine state of Oregon backcountry backpacking is so much fun. The total elevation difference for this hiking trail is 2,286 feet which is about average. Sometimes this great outdoors trail gets really dry, so make sure you check current
conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. There is only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry trekking it in and back out. Blackwell Trail is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. For the period of the months of summer, highs frequently are in the 80's at Blackwell Trail while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 30's. Highs throughout the winter are ordinarily in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures  
at Blackwell Trail sink into the 10's. Gotta get out of the settlement man, and Blackwell Trail in Grant County, Oregon is a magnificent spot for getting out. At Blackwell Trail you don’t see much rain; through November this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is July. Trails like this one here in the Blue Mountains are a very wonderful way to see these mountaintops. With its 7.6 miles of walking distance it's a mid length backcountry hike. This backcountry trek shouldn't take more than 7 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. This is just one of a large number of hiking and backpacking trails in this region. This hiking trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the hiking trail could be very different from other parts of it.

But wait, there's more enjoyable things to do in the Blue Mountains. If you came for an overnight stay Deerhorn Campground is a glorious spot to camp; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Rabbit Creek. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Mountains.
You just have to go for Blackwell Trail. A pleasant trip to Moon Meadow is a tremendous way to spend an afternoon; Packsaddle Spring is always fun to check out. Camping is available at Corrigal Spring Campground, and if you're here at Blackwell Trail it's a brilliant idea to visit China Meadow. A great spot for whitewater paddling close to Blackwell Trail is John Day River - North Fork, and some of the water nearby flows, like Indian Creek.
Snowshoe Spring is a lovely site to visit while you're at Blackwell Trail, and a brilliant place to check out is Bear Gulch.
