This backcountry trek shouldn't take more than 7.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Being 8.6 miles long it's a mid length backcountry hike. Now this great outdoors trail is pretty long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. The backcountry trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your backcountry hike. Gaylor Lakes Trail is a two ended trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Sometimes this great outdoors trail gets really dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out.
