Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 50's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Pacific Crest Trail - section 2 sink into the 20's. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in site. With its 70.6 miles of walking distance; it's longer than many hiking and backpacking trails. Here in the pleasant state of California backpacking is the pleasant thing to do. There are numerous backpacking and hiking trails in California, and each one is well worth a trek. At parts of the year this area sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. This backcountry walk should take you about 10.5 days, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. This great outdoors trail has two trailheads, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can backcountry walk it just one way. There are so many hiking trails in this neighborhood.
