Washington hiking trails - Windy Trail, Northern Cascade Range, Okanogan County

Windy Trail is 18.4 miles long; it's a long great outdoors hiking trail. This is a long backcountry
    hiking trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Some parts of Windy Trail are much higher up than other parts of the great outdoors hiking trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Windy Trail is a very long hiking trail
having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough great outdoors trail for advanced walkers looking for a perfect challenge. Windy Trail has two trailheads, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can walk it just one way. This backcountry hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. The total elevation difference for this trail is 2,851 feet which is higher than average. Backcountry hiking here in the Northern Cascade Range is the  
best way to enjoy these peaks. Windy Trail is pretty dry regularly; December is the wettest month with most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Of course, this is an overnight hike, 3 days normally, so it's a fine thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job. Windy Trail is in a rather isolated region, and it sure is a a perfect backpacking and hiking trail. Summertime highs at Windy Trail generally tend to be in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 40's. During the winter highs are in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Windy Trail. This is just one of a large number of great outdoors trails in this area.

Briefly about the general area:
There's so much to do here at Windy Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Long Swamp Campground is a good place for that; Horsehoe Basin is a great site to stretch your legs a bit. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool stuff the area in the vicinity of Windy Trail has to offer. There are some fine whitewater spots on Chewuch River, and a pleasant trip to Pick Pocket is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Windy Trail is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Iron Gate Campground is a tremendous local campground, and Horseshoe Pass is also a pleasant site to explore. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range, not sufficient time. Wildhorse Creek is a delightful stream that is worth stopping at, and there's whitewater on Chewuch River for all you adrenaline kick people.
This site, the Northern Cascade Range, has so much outdoors entertaining things. Don't forget to take a perfect little tour to Sunny Creek, and a short trip to Chewack Falls is always worthwhile.
