Washington hiking trails - Wildcat Trail, Northern Cascade Range, Skamania County

   
  Pretty far from Hood River you find Wildcat Trail, but hiking it is always fun. If you are in Washington during backcountry trekking season you have to go backcountry trekking. There are backpacking trails all over Washington; one of them being Wildcat Trail in Skamania County. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end, so backpacking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. Hiking here in Washington is an excellent idea. Every Washington backpacking trail is different from the others. This hiking trail is a normal length
    hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this great outdoors trail good for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Wildcat Trail is a relatively wet place usually with much rainfall; December is the month that gets the most rain while July is typically
the driest month. Wildcat Trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the great outdoors hiking trail could be very different from other parts of it. For the period of the summer months at Wildcat Trail temperatures are generally in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. For the period of the winter the highs are usually in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Wildcat Trail. With its 6.8 miles of walking distance it's an average length great outdoors hiking  
trail. The hiking trails of the Northern Cascade Range are a nice way to explore these highlands. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. Gotta get out of the city man, and Wildcat Trail in Skamania County, Washington is a glorious spot to go. Wildcat Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,402 feet, and that is about average. You should count on this backcountry walk taking about 6 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. This is one of a very small number of great outdoors trails in this vicinity. Keep in mind that this is a long great outdoors trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies.

Briefly about the general area:
Lower Falls Campground is a good local campground; as expected, A trip to Cussed Hollow is always fun. You must definitely dedicate some time to Wright Meadow if you're here at Wildcat Trail; get soaked paddling on Muddy River.
What a spot this is for outdoors people. Some of the water close by flows, like Wright Creek. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things in the Northern Cascade Range. Don’t forget to stop at Spencer Meadow since you're here at Wildcat Trail, and hey, Spencer Creek is a great local stream. Curly Creek Campground is a nice campground nearby, and whitewater paddling is tremendous on Lewis River - North Fork.
