Tubal Cain Mine Trail has a total elevation difference of 5,265 feet which is a higher than average number. Now this wilderness trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Different parts of this backcountry trail are at very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the backcountry trail could be very different from other parts of it. This is a two-ended trail with two trailheads, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can walk it just one way. This hike should take you about 3.5 days, so it's a fine thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job. With its 24 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer backcountry hike. Sometimes this wilderness trail gets really dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire.
