There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end, so hiking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. This is a long great outdoors hiking trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. This is just one of a large number of hiking trails in this neighborhood.

Any time is a delightful time at Sun Top Trail if you fancy the outdoors. There's so much to do here at Sun Top Trail that you need to camp here for a while, The Dalles Campground is a delightful spot for that, and there's some flowing water close by, Buck Creek is a stream you can check out while here. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Cascade Range. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Sun Top Trail has to offer, you can camp at Dry Creek Campground, and you don't have to go far to enjoy White River Ranger District.
A tour to Silver Springs will fill your spirit with nice feelings, and paddling on White River is so much fun. Near Sun Top Trail you find fine sites like Haller Pass, and a good site like Bear Park here at Sun Top Trail is too pleasant to miss.
You ought to absolutely dedicate some time to White River Park since you're here at Sun Top Trail, and soar down the rapids of Greenwater River in a kayak. All the outdoors amusing things in the Northern Cascade Range will keep you coming back many times.
