Washington hiking trails - South Side Trail, Okanogan County

    make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. Of course, this is an overnight backcountry walk, 2.5 days normally, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. There are plenty of great outdoors hiking

When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at South Side Trail temperatures dip to the 10's. This backpacking and hiking trail is a very long backpacking and hiking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough great outdoors trail for advanced  
trekkers looking for a wonderful challenge. Backcountry trekking here in Washington is a must. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. Backpacking in Washington is so much fun. The total elevation difference for this great outdoors hiking trail is 1,801 feet, and that is about average. It is very dried up here at South Side Trail usually; through the month of December you get the most snow around here while July is usually the driest month. Now this backcountry hiking trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Some parts of South Side Trail are much higher up than other parts of the great outdoors hiking trail which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the great outdoors hiking trail. South Side Trail has two trailheads, so trekking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back.

There's so much to do here at South Side Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Lost Lake Campground is a great site for that, and some of the water close by flows, like East Fork Myers Creek. This site rocks, just check out all the amusing stuff to do next to South Side Trail.
You'll need more than a day to discover everything South Side Trail has to offer, you can camp at Bonaparte Lake Resort and Restaurant, and South Side Trail is right next door to Aeneas Valley which is undeniably worth taking a look at. Bigham Flat is right here at South Side Trail It's always wonderful to pop by Lightning Spring. Put some time aside to spend at Duff Spring while you're here at South Side Trail, and swing by Little Bonaparte Creek it's a glorious site to take a look at.
