  There are so many tremendous wilderness hiking trails for backcountry backpacking in Washington, and South Sand Point Trail in Clallam County is one of them. There are numerous wilderness hiking trails in Washington, and each one is pretty in its own way. Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, South Sand Point Trail in Clallam County, Washington is a tremendous place to go. Being 3.8 miles long it's shorter than many wilderness hiking trails. A visit to Washington is not complete without some hiking. This is not a very long backcountry
    trail but it's always fine to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. This is one of a very small number of hiking and backpacking trails in this neighborhood. South Sand Point Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you won’t
have to worry about different climate zones along your backcountry trek. Trekking here in the Olympic Mountains is a really good way to spend quality time in the wilderness. This hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 189 feet which is a lower than average number. This great outdoors trail is on the short side having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a good hiking and backpacking trail for the average person looking for a good adventure. Through the warm days of summer highs here at South Sand Point Trail get into the 60's, and  
all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 40's with temperatures at South Sand Point Trail dipping down into the 30's all through winter nights. The time needed for this backcountry walk is roughly 3.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. The high level of precipitation makes South Sand Point Trail a reasonably wet place; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and August is the month with the least moisture. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. Many miles from the least distant urban center you have South Sand Point Trail, and backcountry backpacking it is great fun any time. If you happen to be in Washington, why not go backcountry backpacking, it is the tremendous thing to do. South Sand Point Trail is a one trailhead hiking trail, so you'll be backcountry trekking it in and back out.

Ericksons Bay Campground is a great campground nearby, and nothing beats kicking back at Kayostia Beach.
South Sand Point Trail is a great spot to visit for more than one day, The Lost Resort is a great spot to camp nearby, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Wish Creek. But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Olympic Mountains. Hit the beach if you want, Yellow Banks is practically right here; a tour to close by Blooms Bay is very relaxing.
