There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end which means you have the option of hiking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. South Fork Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,192 feet which is about average. Different parts of South Fork Trail are at very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the hiking trail could be very different from other parts of it. This backcountry trek should take you about 3 days, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. With its 19.4 miles of walking distance; it's longer than many hiking trails. This area does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. This is a long great outdoors trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies.
