a splendid adventure. South Asotin Trail is 2.2 miles long it's a shorter type trek. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. Each one of the many hiking trails of Washington is well worth a hike. South Asotin Trail is positioned a pretty long drive from Lewiston, but backpacking it is always enjoyable. This is one of a very small number of hiking and backpacking trails in this region. Trail is a two ended backpacking and hiking trail with two trailheads, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can walk it just one way. Even though this is not a very long hiking trail you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. This backcountry walk shouldn't take more than 2 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. The total elevation difference for this backpacking and hiking trail is 1,041 feet which is an average number. Summertime at South Asotin Trail comes with high temperatures in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to South Asotin Trail. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out.
