a longer backcountry walk. This is a backpacking trail that is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. There is only one trailhead, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. Some parts of Sourdough Lookout Trail are much higher up than other parts of the backpacking trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Ross Dam is worth a visit while you're here, and Colonial Creek Campground is a nice campground here.
This river is so good. Get your pulse rate up on the tremendous whitewater of Stetattle Creek, and you are near Thunder Arm while you're here. If you have a thing about the outdoors you'll have a thing about it here in the Northern Cascade Range. Why not take a look at nearby Horsetail Creek since you're here at Sourdough Lookout Trail, and Reflector Bar is another good site to go to nearby.
This place, the Northern Cascade Range, has so much outdoors exciting stuff. Gorge Creek Falls is a striking place to stop at while you're at Sourdough Lookout Trail, and everybody loves Butler Brown Flats. Coming to this river is always a good idea. You can run the rapids of Granite Creek near Sourdough Lookout Trail, and John Pierce Waterfall is a pleasant local attraction.
