Smith Creek Trail is a hiking and backpacking trail rather far from Longview-Kelso, but when you spend some time trekking here you will feel like a whole new person. Now this trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. There is only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry trekking it in and back out. Briefly about the general area: If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Northern Cascade Range. If time allows, Mount Rainier National Park is a national park worth taking a look at, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Muddy River. Swift Forest Campground is a splendid campground nearby, and Ape Canyon is a great place to stop by. If you adore the outdoors, you'll fancy Smith Creek Trail. If you came for an overnight stay Quartz Creek Big Trees Campground is a great site to camp; Plains of Abraham is a scenic spot any time of year. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Lewis River - North Fork; while you're here you have to have a look at Duck Bay.
