Slick Ear Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,581 feet which is a higher than average number. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Of course, this is an overnight backcountry trek, 3 days normally, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. This is one of many hiking trails in the surrounding region. Some parts of Slick Ear Trail are much higher up than other parts of the hiking and backpacking  
trail, and that means that some parts of the hiking and backpacking trail could be very different from other parts of it. Now this hiking and backpacking trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Being 19.4 miles long; it's considered a longer backcountry trek. At parts of the year this neighborhood sees very little rain, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. This wilderness trail is many miles long with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this hiking trail perfect for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Backcountry trekking here in the Blue Mountains is a very good way to see these hills. Slick Ear Trail is a one trailhead trail, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry hike.

Briefly about the general area:
Stay the night at Godman Campground, and Beaver Creek is close to Slick Ear Trail and is always a diversion to take a look at. That right there is loads of amusing things already but it goes on, the Blue Mountains has it all. Everybody loves Elk Flat, and a perfect location is Cougar Canyon.
You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Blue Mountains. A short visit to Dexter Spring is always worthwhile, and some close by water includes Beaver Creek. Burnt Flat is right here at Slick Ear Trail; Slick Ear Trail is a great place to visit for more than one day, Bear Canyon Campground is a great place to camp nearby.
That right there is loads already, but it goes on; Slick Ear Trail has it all. There's whitewater on Grande Ronde River for all you thrill seekers, and Zuger Spring is an inspiring place to visit during your stay.
