This wilderness trail has two trailheads, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can backcountry walk it just one way. The time needed for this backcountry trek is roughly 7 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Being 7.8 miles long it's a mid length backcountry hike. This is a long hiking trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. Shrew Creek Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,639 feet which is a higher than average number. Shrew Creek Trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the backpacking trail could be very different from other parts of it.
