Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in the fresh air a bit, and Rock Creek Trail in Skamania County, Washington is a good place for getting out. Rock Creek Trail is not very in the neighborhood of Hood River at all, but backcountry trails like these are magnificent. Every Washington trail has its own character. up at the other end. This trail is a normal length trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a great hiking and backpacking trail for experienced backcountry hikers in good shape. With its 7.2 miles of walking distance it's an average length great outdoors
| | trail. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. The total elevation difference for Rock Creek Trail is 1,970 feet which is about average. Trekking here in the Northern Cascade Range is a perfect way to explore these mountaintops. This backcountry hike shouldn't take more than 6.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Briefly about the general area: Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Cascade Range. North Fork Snag Creek is a pretty stream that is worth visiting, and Wind River Experimental Forest is a forest that you can go to. If you
come at the right time of year, Trout Creek offers some nice whitewater. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Rock Creek Trail has to offer, you can camp at Lewis and Clark RV Park. Take a side tour to Steep Creek, and you can stay the night at Little Soda Springs Campground. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Rock Creek - Columbia River Tributary.
