You should count on this trek taking about 5.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Through the summer months at Ridge Trail temperatures are frequently in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Ridge Trail temperatures descend to the 30's. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. There are plenty of backcountry hiking trails in Washington;
each one of them is worth backcountry backpacking. Outdoors people generally like this part of Washington. This backpacking trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens.
Briefly about the general area: Having
a good time in the Northern Cascade Range is easy. If you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rush Creek, and some close by water includes Oldman Creek. Camping is available at Curly Creek Campground; close by you stumble on wonderful places
like Pete Gulch. Whohoo, so many cool things in one place! Ridge Trail is great!. Everybody loves McClellan Meadows, and Lewis River - North Fork has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby. Getting to North Fork Curley Creek from Ridge Trail is uncomplicated, and why not camp at Forlorn Lakes Campground since you're here at Ridge Trail.
