The total elevation difference for this backcountry trail is 1,529 feet which is about average. North Summit Trail has only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry walk. Some parts of this wilderness trail are much higher up than other parts of the wilderness trail which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the wilderness trail. Keep in mind that this is a long wilderness hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. This walk shouldn't take more than 6.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. At parts of the year this vicinity sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. North Summit Trail is 7.6 miles long it's a mid length backcountry hike.
