River Trail has two trailheads, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can backcountry hike it just one way. The total elevation difference for this backpacking trail is 894 feet which is a lower than average number. Muddy River Trail is not very near Hood River at all, but
there's nice natural prettiness waiting for you here along it. Even though this is not a very long wilderness hiking trail you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens.

if you're here at Muddy River Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Lewis River - North Fork offers some great whitewater. Clearwater Creek is a magnificent place to have a look at. All year is a good time in the Northern Cascade Range if you fancy the outdoors.
Visit Smith Creek if you're here at Muddy River Trail, and soar down the rapids of Muddy River in a kayak. A spree to Lava Canyon is always fun, and if you came for an overnight stay Curly Creek Campground is a good site to camp.
