  Great wilderness trails in Washington are in abundance, and one of these is Muddy River Trail in Skamania County. There are numerous wilderness trails in Washington, and each one has its own unique splendor. Washington is a fine place for outdoors folks. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. This is not a very long wilderness trail but it's always wonderful to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. Being 4.2 miles long it's a mid length backcountry trek.     Trail commonly tend to be in the 70's while overnight lows are regularly in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows at Muddy River Trail all through the winter regularly descend into the 30's. The length of this great outdoors hiking trail is about
average with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it an excellent wilderness trail for the average person looking for an excellent adventure. Relatively far from Hood River you bump into Muddy River Trail, but when you spend some time backcountry hiking here you will feel like a whole new person. Here in the magnificent state of Washington backpacking is a nice idea. This hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 894 feet which is lower than average. Muddy River Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you  
get pretty much the same conditions along the whole hiking and backpacking trail. This hiking trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. You should count on this backcountry walk taking about 3.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Hiking and backpacking trails like this one here in the Northern Cascade Range are a fine way to explore these mountains. Muddy River Trail is a wet site that gets much rainfall; December is the month that gets the most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in the wilderness a bit, and Muddy River Trail in Skamania County, Washington is a magnificent choice. This is one of a very small number of wilderness trails in this vicinity.

Briefly about the general area:
So many amusing things in the Northern Cascade Range, just tremendous. Paddling on Lewis River - North Fork is so much fun, and let's not forget Clearwater Creek which is a stream that you may bump into during your stay. Swift Forest Campground is a good campground nearby, and a good spot to stop by is Lava Canyon.
Stay the night at Curly Creek Campground. Muddy River has a delightful whitewater paddling spot nearby, and Smith Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit.
