You should count on this backcountry walk taking about 8.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Different parts of this backcountry hiking trail are at very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. This is a long hiking and backpacking trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Through the warm days of summer, highs frequently are in the 70's at Mount Cliffty Trail, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's,   and night lows in the 20's for Mount Cliffty Trail. This great outdoors trail has only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry trekking it in and back out. Mount Cliffty Trail is 9.8 miles long; it's considered a longer backcountry walk. Mount Cliffty Trail is a hiking trail of tremendous length having an average number of uphill miles which makes this backcountry trail great for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Mount Cliffty Trail is a wilderness hiking trail pretty far from Ellensburg, but wilderness hiking trails like these are splendid. If you are in Washington during trekking season you have to go trekking. Briefly about the general area: This place is excellent, just look at all the entertaining stuff to do next to Mount Cliffty Trail. Drift down the rapids of Little Naches River in a kayak, and camping at Mount Cliffty Trail is pleasant fun, Kaner Flat Campground is a pleasant local campground. Having a fine time in the Northern Cascade Range is easy. A visit to Lost Meadow rejuvenates the soul; there's some flowing water close by, Sand Creek is a stream you can visit while you're here. Since you're here at Mount Cliffty Trail why not pop by Windy Pass, and if you came for an overnight stay Longmile Meadows Campground is a tremendous place to camp. But wait, there's more entertaining things to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Everybody loves Mathew Meadow, and if you come at the right time of year, American River offers some fine whitewater. This is such a fun river. Don't leave Mount Cliffty Trail without first paying a visit to West Quartz Creek Falls, and obviously Pileup Creek flows through this area.
