the 20's with temperatures at Monument Creek Trail dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. This backcountry trail is many miles long having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough wilderness trail for advanced walkers looking for an excellent challenge.
Different parts of Monument Creek Trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the backpacking trail. This area does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions
before you go. Not much precipitation falls here at Monument Creek Trail; December is when you get the most snow here, and the driest of the months is July. This is a hiking trail that is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Please follow all local rules about
fires and camping.
Briefly about the general area: You must stop at Scramble Point when you're here at Monument Creek Trail, and Methow River has a good whitewater paddling spot close by. That right there is a lot of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Northern
Cascade Range has it all. If you came for an overnight stay Rivers Bend Campground is a magnificent location to camp, and swing by Monument Creek it's a magnificent place to have a look at. Be careful coming to Monument Creek Trail, you might not ever wanna return back home
again. A visit to Monument Creek Trail wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Goat Spring, and a tremendous place close by is Pistol Pass. Camping is available at Ballard Campground; in the event that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater
paddling on Lost River. Some of the water close by flows, like Eureka Creek, and Sunset Meadow is a lovely place any time of year. Be careful coming to the Northern Cascade Range, you might not ever want to go home again. Black Pine Basin is a wonderful location to stretch your legs a bit, and a short tour to Cedar Falls is always worthwhile.
