Minnie Meadows Trail is not very close to Ellensburg at all, but backcountry hiking is such an enjoyable thing to do, and this is a good spot to do that. There are numerous hiking trails in Washington, and each one has something unique to offer. Keep in mind that this is a long great outdoors trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. There's so much to do here at Minnie Meadows Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Rimrock Public Campground and Boat Landing is a tremendous location for that,
and Tieton River - South Fork is a great whitewater spot nearby. This is a really good river. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Minnie Meadows Trail has to offer, you can camp at Grey Creek Campground, and swing by Discovery Creek it's a brilliant spot to explore.
