  Every backcountry trail in Washington is well worth a hike. Put on your backcountry hiking shoes, and hit the great outdoors hiking trail, Lusk Creek Trail in Skamania County, Washington is the wilderness at its best. There are so many magnificent backcountry trails for backcountry backpacking in Washington, and Lusk Creek Trail in Skamania County is one of them. This part of Washington is always a delight to visit during hiking season. This is one of a very small number of wilderness hiking trails in this region. The total elevation difference for Lusk Creek
    Trail is 780 feet which is a lower than average number. This is not a very long backcountry hiking trail but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. You'll have to go far from Hood River to get to Lusk Creek Trail, but what a perfect place
for backcountry hiking it is. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end which means you have the option of hiking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Summertime highs at Lusk Creek Trail typically tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Lusk Creek Trail. Lusk Creek Trail is 2.6 miles long it's shorter than many hiking trails. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before  
you go. Backcountry hiking here in the Northern Cascade Range is a very great way to see these peaks. The hiking trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your hike. Hiking in Washington is the magnificent thing to do. The time needed for this hike is roughly 2.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Lusk Creek Trail is on the short side having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a perfect wilderness hiking trail for the average person looking for a perfect adventure. Lusk Creek Trail is a reasonably wet place typically with a great deal of rainfall; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July meanwhile is the driest month.

So much exciting stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range, not enough time. A brilliant place to camp here at Lusk Creek Trail is Ice Cave Campground. Lots of people from Hood River come to Lusk Creek Trail, and camping is available at Smoky Creek Campground.
