January, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest month is July. Ironstone Mountain Trail is 7.6 miles long it's an average length trail. The wilderness hiking trails of the Northern Cascade Range are the best way to enjoy these mountaintops. Different parts of this trail are at very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Ironstone Mountain Trail is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Ironstone Mountain Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,130 feet which is about  
average. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry trek. This backcountry trek shouldn't take more than 6.5 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This part of Washington has a good deal of available outdoors pursuits. Ironstone Mountain Trail is a mid-length wilderness hiking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this backcountry hiking trail great for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Briefly about the general area:
There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Ironstone Mountain Trail. Some of the water nearby flows, like Indian Creek. Fox Meadow is a pretty location any time of year, and there's whitewater on Tieton River - South Fork for all you adrenaline rush seekers.
Get your heart beating on the wonderful whitewater of Bumping River, and camping at Rimrock Public Campground and Boat Landing is always a perfect experience. A brilliant place to camp here at Ironstone Mountain Trail is Grey Creek Campground, and getting to Muddy Creek from Ironstone Mountain Trail is uncomplicated. All year is a perfect time in the Northern Cascade Range if you love the outdoors. Indian Spring is always fun to check out, and sites like Rattlesnake Meadows are good to go to.
