Washington hiking trails - Horseshoe Ridge Trail, Northern Cascade Range, Skamania County

   
  This part of Washington is always a bliss to stop at during backcountry backpacking season. Each great outdoors trail in Washington is picturesque in its own way. Great outdoors hiking trails for backcountry backpacking, and backpacking can be found all over Washington; Horseshoe Ridge Trail in Skamania County is one of them. This is one of a very small number of backpacking trails in this vicinity. It's a long tour from Hood River to Horseshoe Ridge Trail, but it is an outstanding refuge from the city. Hitting the hiking trails is always an exciting thing
    to do, and Horseshoe Ridge Trail in Skamania County, Washington is an outstanding spot for getting out. This hiking and backpacking trail is many miles long with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a wonderful backpacking trail for experienced backcountry hikers
in delightful shape. Summertime highs at Horseshoe Ridge Trail frequently tend to be in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Horseshoe Ridge Trail. The total elevation difference for Horseshoe Ridge Trail is 2,830 feet, and that is higher than average. This is a two-ended backcountry hiking trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at  
the other end. Horseshoe Ridge Trail is a pretty wet place regularly with a good deal of precipitation; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain; July is when it's the driest. Different parts of this trail are at very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. This is a long backpacking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Being 9.6 miles long; it's longer than many trails. This backcountry hike shouldn't take more than 8.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. If you happen to be in Washington, why not go backcountry backpacking, it is the glorious thing to do. Backcountry backpacking here in the Northern Cascade Range is the best way to enjoy these peaks.

In the event that you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Siouxon Creek, and Observation Berryfield Campground is a good campground nearby. But wait, there's more exciting things to do in the Northern Cascade Range. If you came for an overnight stay Canyon Creek Campground is a perfect site to camp, and since you're here, you could stop by Horseshoe Creek.
Wildcat Creek flows through this vicinity, and Canyon Creek - Lewis River Tributary has a great whitewater paddling spot close by.
