Washington hiking trails - Highline Trail, Northern Cascade Range, Yakima County

   
  Washington has plenty of splendid hiking trails; Highline Trail is one of them, and it's in Yakima County. Going for a walk here in Washington is a fine idea. Every Washington hiking trail has its own character. A visit to Washington is not complete without some backpacking. Backcountry hiking here in the Northern Cascade Range is a really perfect way to spend quality time in the great outdoors. This is a backcountry hiking trail that is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Now, this is roughly a 2-day hike, so make sure you've got all your
    overnight gear packed. With its 14 miles of walking distance; it's a long wilderness trail. This hiking and backpacking trail has only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out walk. It's a long tour from Hood River to Highline Trail, but trekking is such an enjoyable thing
to do, and this is a brilliant site to do that. When was the last time you got out in the fresh air a bit? Highline Trail in Yakima County, Washington is a brilliant site for getting out. Different parts of Highline Trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the wilderness trail. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. This is one of many trails in the surrounding neighborhood. Highline Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,264 feet which is about  
average. The high level of rainfall makes Highline Trail a reasonably wet place; December is the month that gets the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. The length of Highline Trail is on the longer side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough trail for advanced hikers looking for an excellent challenge. Through the days of summer, highs commonly are in the 70's at Highline Trail. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 40's; after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Highline Trail plunge into the 20's.

Briefly about the general area:
Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The Northern Cascade Range is so good! White Salmon River has a glorious whitewater paddling spot nearby. Yeah, come here to Highline Trail for a great time. Highline Trail is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Killen Creek Campground is a pleasant local campground; a trip to Crooked Creek Falls will fill your soul with good feelings.
There's some flowing water close by, South Fork Spring Creek is a stream you can pop by during your stay, and a pleasant trip to Muddy Meadows is a good way to spend an afternoon. There's so much to do here at Highline Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Cold Springs Campground is a great place for that, and if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cispus River. While you're here at Highline Trail it's a brilliant idea to stop at Foggy Flat, and do put some time aside to spend at Cold Springs while you're here at Highline Trail.
Now, you may believe that's a heap but there's even more exciting stuff to do here in the Northern Cascade Range. A tremendous spot to have a look at in the neighborhood of Highline Trail is Avalanche Valley; Crooked Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth taking a look at.
