| | a bit of leg stretching. This backcountry hike shouldn't take more than 3 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Summer at High Creek Trail comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and the night is a bit colder of course, typically in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at High Creek Trail dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. Sometimes this wilderness trail gets really dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. High Creek Trail is pretty dehydrated frequently; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most snow;
July meanwhile is the driest month. This backpacking and hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 412 feet which is a lower than average number. High Creek Trail is not that long but it's always perfect to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen.
There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can backcountry hike it just one way. The number of great outdoors hiking trails in this vicinity is not very high. There's not much difference in elevation along the wilderness
trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole wilderness trail. High Creek Trail is 3.4 miles long it's shorter than many wilderness trails.
Briefly about the general area: You'll need more than a day to discover everything High Creek Trail has to
offer, you can camp at Haney Meadow Campground. There's so much to do here at High Creek Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Lion Rock Spring Campground is a wonderful place for that, and lots of folks from Ellensburg come here.
