Washington hiking trails - High Creek Trail, Kittitas County       Spending too much time indoors got you down? This backpacking and hiking trail is not that long but it's     always pleasant to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. Around High Creek Trail you don’t get a lot of precipitation; December is the wettest month with most snow; the driest of the months is July. Summertime highs at High Creek Trail generally tend to be in the 80's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at High Creek Trail. This backpacking and hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Being 3.4 miles long it's a short great outdoors trail. This trek shouldn't take more than 3 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This is one of a very small number of hiking trails in this region. This is a two-ended backpacking trail with two trailheads, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can walk it just one way. There's so much to do here at High Creek Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Lion Rock Spring Campground is a great location for that, and lots of folks from Ellensburg come here.
