Hicks Butte Trail gets much water; during the month of January you get the most snow around here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This trail is on the short side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a splendid wilderness hiking trail for the average person looking for a splendid adventure. | |

Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. You spend the whole backcountry trek in roughly the same elevation zone which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Even though this is not a very long trail you should still bring some emergency supplies
just in case something happens. Hicks Butte Trail has a total elevation difference of 271 feet which is lower than average. Hicks Butte Trail is 2.8 miles long it's shorter than many trails. This is one of a very small number of wilderness hiking trails in this region. There are
great outdoors hiking trails all over Washington, and Hicks Butte Trail in Kittitas County is one of them. You should count on this hike taking about 2.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.
Briefly about the general area: If you
came to camp Wish Poosh Campground is a tremendous spot to do that, and obviously Disappointment Creek flows through this vicinity. This river is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Hicks Butte Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Trailer Corral is a great location
for that, and the fine folks of Ellensburg like to hang out nearby. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Northern Cascade Range. If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cle Elum River; a quick visit to Butte Creek is without doubt a glorious idea.
