Hicks Butte Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Being 2.8 miles long it's shorter than many hiking trails. This walk shouldn't take more than 2.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Even though this is not a very long wilderness hiking trail you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens.
