Washington hiking trails - Hicks Butte Trail, Northern Cascade Range, Kittitas County

   
  Going for a walk here in Washington is the great thing to do. Every great outdoors hiking trail in Washington is different from the others. We all need to get out in the great outdoors once in a while, and Hicks Butte Trail in Kittitas County, Washington is a fine place for getting out. Through the summertime months here at Hicks Butte Trail, high temperatures regularly get into the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime
    temperatures at Hicks Butte Trail drop into the 10's. This is a two-ended great outdoors hiking trail with two trailheads, so backcountry trekking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. It's a long trip from Ellensburg to Hicks Butte Trail, but it is a really
glorious hiking and backpacking trail. The pretty trails of the Northern Cascade Range are a fine way to explore these mountaintops. With so many outdoors things to do available in Washington you'll never get bored. Hicks Butte Trail gets much water; during the month of January you get the most snow around here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This trail is on the short side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a splendid wilderness hiking trail for the average person looking for a splendid adventure.  
Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. You spend the whole backcountry trek in roughly the same elevation zone which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Even though this is not a very long trail you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. Hicks Butte Trail has a total elevation difference of 271 feet which is lower than average. Hicks Butte Trail is 2.8 miles long it's shorter than many trails. This is one of a very small number of wilderness hiking trails in this region. There are great outdoors hiking trails all over Washington, and Hicks Butte Trail in Kittitas County is one of them. You should count on this hike taking about 2.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.

Briefly about the general area:
If you came to camp Wish Poosh Campground is a tremendous spot to do that, and obviously Disappointment Creek flows through this vicinity. This river is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Hicks Butte Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Trailer Corral is a great location for that, and the fine folks of Ellensburg like to hang out nearby.
There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Northern Cascade Range. If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cle Elum River; a quick visit to Butte Creek is without doubt a glorious idea.
