Washington hiking trails - Grey Rock Trail, Northern Cascade Range, Yakima County

    There are many great backcountry hiking trails in Washington; Grey Rock Trail in Yakima County is one of them. The hiking trails of the Northern Cascade Range are an excellent way to explore these mountaintops. All through the warmest time of the year highs here at Grey Rock Trail
reach the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Grey Rock Trail. Grey Rock Trail is a two ended backpacking and hiking trail with two trailheads, so backcountry trekking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. Each one of the many backcountry hiking trails of Washington is different from the others. This is a trail that is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. This backpacking  
and hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 803 feet which is a lower than average number. Grey Rock Trail gets a great deal of water; the month with most of the rain is January, and July is the month with the least moisture. This walk shouldn't take more than 9 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. This hiking trail is a very long hiking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this wilderness hiking trail pleasant for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. The backpacking trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole backpacking trail.

Briefly about the general area:
Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Northern Cascade Range. You are right next door to Ewe Neck while you're here at Grey Rock Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Tieton River. All year is a good time in the Northern Cascade Range if you go for the outdoors. Places like Buckhorn Meadows are fine to stop at, and a great site to go to nearby is McLaine Canyon.
This is no spot for people who don’t like to have a good time. Don't forget to take a wonderful little visit to Fish Creek, and Grey Rock Trail is a magnificent site to camp, South Fork Campground is a magnificent site. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Grey Rock Trail has to offer, you can camp at Peninsula Campground, and a short tour to Strobach Springs is always worthwhile. Spencer Creek is a charming stream that is worth going to, and Soda Spring is an inspiring location to take a look at while you're here.
Sleepy Park Meadow is a delightful location any time of year, and there are some good whitewater spots on Tieton River - South Fork.
