Now this backcountry trail is pretty long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. This backpacking trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the backpacking trail could be very different from other parts of it. Goat Creek Trail has a total elevation difference of 3,879 feet, and that is higher than average. This hiking trail is a mid length hiking trail  
with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough backpacking trail for advanced trekkers looking for an excellent challenge. Goat Creek Trail has only one trailhead, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. High temperatures at Goat Creek Trail during the summer months are in the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the winter highs are frequently in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Goat Creek Trail. Goat Creek Trail gets a lot of water; January is the month that gets the most rain while July is usually the driest month.

Briefly about the general area:
A visit to Goat Creek Trail wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Clover Spring; whitewater paddling is tremendous on American River. Now, you may imagine that's a load but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in the Northern Cascade Range. Camping at Goat Creek Trail is glorious fun, Hells Crossing Campground is a glorious local campground; in case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Bumping River.
And if you're still looking for more outdoors enjoyable stuff just keep reading. Take a little tour to Sunrise Creek since you're here at Goat Creek Trail. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. Looking for some flowing water? Try Scab Creek, and if you came for an overnight stay Cougar Flat Campground is a great place to camp. A short visit to Soda Springs is always worthwhile, and if you want a little side trip, try Pleasant Valley.
