are an excellent way to explore these mountains. Glacier Lake Trail is a long drive away from Hood River, but backcountry trekking along this backpacking and hiking trail is very amusing. Through the warm months, highs regularly are in the 70's at Glacier Lake Trail. Summer overnight
lows descend down to the 40's. During the winter the highs are typically in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Glacier Lake Trail temperatures descend to the 20's. Backcountry backpacking in Washington never gets boring.
Briefly about the general area:
Deception Creek is right next door to Glacier Lake Trail and is always a joy to pop by, and Cowlitz River has a perfect whitewater paddling spot nearby. Take a little journey to Glacier Creek if you're here at Glacier Lake Trail; you can stay the night at Packwood RV Park and
Campground. That right there is a lot of cool things already but it goes on, the Northern Cascade Range has it all. Glacier Lake Trail is a wonderful spot to visit for more than one day, River Bar Campground is a wonderful spot to camp nearby; if you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Johnson Creek.
