Washington hiking trails - Glacier Lake Trail, Northern Cascade Range, Lewis County

   
  Washington is an excellent outdoors state. You can't spend all your time indoors you need to get out once in a while, and Glacier Lake Trail in Lewis County, Washington is a really good location to spend some time. There are many brilliant backcountry hiking trails in Washington, and among these are Glacier Lake Trail in Lewis County. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. With its 3.2 miles of walking distance it's shorter than many wilderness hiking trails. Glacier Lake Trail stays roughly within the same elevation
    zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. The time needed for this hike is roughly 3 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. The total elevation difference for this wilderness
trail is 974 feet which is a lower than average number. Glacier Lake Trail is on the short side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a glorious trail for the average person looking for a glorious adventure. There are so many trails in this region. Each one of the many backcountry hiking trails of Washington has its own character. Glacier Lake Trail is a quite wet spot typically with much precipitation; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest of the months is July. This is a one trailhead wilderness  
trail, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry trek. Even though this is not a very long backcountry trail it's always glorious to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. Backpacking and hiking trails like this one here in the Northern Cascade Range are an excellent way to explore these mountains. Glacier Lake Trail is a long drive away from Hood River, but backcountry trekking along this backpacking and hiking trail is very amusing. Through the warm months, highs regularly are in the 70's at Glacier Lake Trail. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 40's. During the winter the highs are typically in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Glacier Lake Trail temperatures descend to the 20's. Backcountry backpacking in Washington never gets boring.

Briefly about the general area:
Deception Creek is right next door to Glacier Lake Trail and is always a joy to pop by, and Cowlitz River has a perfect whitewater paddling spot nearby.
Take a little journey to Glacier Creek if you're here at Glacier Lake Trail; you can stay the night at Packwood RV Park and Campground. That right there is a lot of cool things already but it goes on, the Northern Cascade Range has it all. Glacier Lake Trail is a wonderful spot to visit for more than one day, River Bar Campground is a wonderful spot to camp nearby; if you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Johnson Creek.
