Driveway Butte Trail has only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry hike it normally. The time needed for this walk is roughly 8 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Being 9.4 miles long; it's considered a longer trek. This is a long great outdoors trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. The total elevation difference for Driveway Butte Trail is 3,442 feet which is higher than average. Some parts of this backcountry hiking trail are much higher up than other parts of the backcountry hiking trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Sometimes this great outdoors trail gets really dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire.
