with highs in the 40's; through the dark hours in the winter at Deer Lake Trail temperatures sink to the 30's. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out trek. Deer Lake Trail is not very near Port Angeles at all, but backpacking it is great merriment any time. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. Some parts of this trail are much higher up than other parts of the trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. This is one of many great outdoors trails in the  
surrounding area. This backcountry hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 1,835 feet which is an average number. The time needed for this backcountry walk is roughly 6 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Being 6.8 miles long it's a mid length hike. Here in Washington backcountry hiking is something that is always fun to do. Deer Lake Trail is a mid-length backpacking and hiking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a good great outdoors trail for experienced backcountry trekkers in pleasant shape. Now this hiking trail is pretty long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies.

Seven Lakes Basin is a good location to stretch your legs a bit. There's so much to do here at Deer Lake Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Log Cabin Resort and Trailer is a delightful location for that.
