40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Deer Lake Trail. Deer Lake Trail is a normal length trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this backpacking trail magnificent for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Deer Lake Trail is a wet site that gets a lot of rain; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. Deer Lake Trail is 6.8 miles long it's a mid length backcountry walk. The total elevation difference for this trail is 1,835 feet which is about average.  
The trails of the Olympic Mountains are a good way to explore these summits. Different parts of Deer Lake Trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the backcountry trail. You should count on this walk taking about 6 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. A tour to Sol Duc Falls will fill your spirit with nice feelings; if you come at the right time of year, Lyre River offers some magnificent whitewater. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Olympic Mountains. You ought to certainly dedicate some time to Bogachiel Park since you're here at Deer Lake Trail; during your spree here you'll meet some people from Port Angeles for sure.
