Dark Meadows Trail is a quite wet location generally with much precipitation; the month with most of the snow is January, and the driest of the months is July. You should count on this backcountry walk taking about 4.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. The total elevation difference for this wilderness hiking trail is 619 feet which is a lower than average number. Outdoors folks generally like this part of Washington. This  
wilderness hiking trail is not that long but it's always good to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. Dark Meadows Trail is 5.4 miles long it's a mid length backcountry trek. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. Backcountry trekking here in the Northern Cascade Range is a fine way to explore these mountaintops. Summer brings highs in the 60's to Dark Meadows Trail while overnight lows are generally in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's while Dark Meadows Trail overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. In case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cowlitz River - Clear Fork, and camping at White Pass Campground is always a glorious experience. This spot, the Northern Cascade Range, has so much outdoors fun stuff. A good spot to camp here at Dark Meadows Trail is Knuppenburg Lake Campground, and some close by water includes South Fork Clear Creek.
Summit Creek is a good whitewater spot in the neighborhood of Dark Meadows Trail, and nearby White Pass is a nice spot to go. Take a little visit to North Fork Clear Creek while you're here at Dark Meadows Trail.
