Washington hiking trails - Cowlitz Trail, Northern Cascade Range, Lewis County

   
  Gotta get out of the urban center man, and Cowlitz Trail in Lewis County, Washington is the great outdoors at its best. Cowlitz Trail is in a quite uninhabited area, and it is an exciting place to backcountry trek. A visit to Washington is not complete without some trekking. There are numerous great outdoors trails in Washington, and each one has its own character. Nice great outdoors trails in Washington are in abundance, and Cowlitz Trail in Lewis County is one of them. The time needed for this hike is roughly 9 hours, but of course some people walk a
    bit slower and some a bit faster. This is a vicinity covered with lots of hiking trails. This hiking trail is a hiking trail of wonderful length with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this hiking trail delightful for hard core backpackers looking for adventure.
Cowlitz Trail is 10.6 miles long; it's longer than many hiking trails. Some parts of this hiking trail are much higher up than other parts of the hiking trail which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the hiking trail. At Cowlitz Trail during the long summer days highs are in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Cowlitz Trail. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an  
in and out backcountry trek. Trekking here in Washington is so much fun. The hiking trails of the Northern Cascade Range are an outstanding way to explore these peaks. This backpacking and hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 2,199 feet which is an average number. Cowlitz Trail is quite long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. Cowlitz Trail sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month with most of the snow is January; July is the month with the least moisture.

Briefly about the general area:
If you come at the right time of year, Summit Creek offers some great whitewater; while you're here, you might as well stop at Carlton Pass. Log Spring is a pretty site to check out while you're at Cowlitz Trail, and a wooded vicinity nearby is Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. A short tour to Fish Ladder Falls is always worthwhile; do schedule some time to go to Cortright Point if you have a chance. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors exciting things the area near Cowlitz Trail has to offer. There's so much to do here at Cowlitz Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Knuppenburg Lake Campground is a delightful place for that, and why not a little side trip to Pony Creek. And if that's not enough there's a heap more fun stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. There are some good whitewater spots on Cowlitz River - Clear Fork.
Allred Creek is a great place to stop by. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Cowlitz Trail has to offer, you can camp at Soda Springs Campground.
