This is just one of a large number of backpacking and hiking trails in this region. At Coldwater Trail throughout the summer highs are in the 70's; during summer nights temperatures
    are in the 40's. Through the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Coldwater Trail. With its 10.6 miles of walking distance; it's a long great outdoors trail. There are many great wilderness hiking trails in Washington, and one
of these is Coldwater Trail in Skamania County. This is a one trailhead hiking trail, so you'll be backcountry backpacking it in and back out. Outdoors people generally like this part of Washington. Coldwater Trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the great outdoors trail could be very different from other parts of it. This is a long wilderness hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Hiking trails like this one here in the Northern Cascade Range are the best way to enjoy these peaks. This hiking  
trail has a total elevation difference of 3,233 feet which is higher than average. A large amount of precipitation falls at Coldwater Trail; December is the wettest month with most rain; July is the month with the least moisture. Coldwater Trail is many miles long having an average number of uphill miles which makes it an outstanding backpacking and hiking trail for experienced trekkers in great shape. Coldwater Trail is positioned a rather lengthy trip from Longview-Kelso, but it is a wonderful retreat from the town. This backcountry walk should take you about 1.5 days, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need.

Loowit Falls is a perfect local attraction, and don’t forget to check out Elk Prairie if you're here at Coldwater Trail.
Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things in the Northern Cascade Range. If you came for an overnight stay Quartz Creek Big Trees Campground is a tremendous place to camp, and Bear Cove is very near and is a wonderful site to visit. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cowlitz River, and swing by Glacier Creek it's a good place to go to. Merrill Lake Campground is a splendid local campground, and some of the water close by flows, like Coldwater Creek.
All year is a splendid time in the Northern Cascade Range if you adore the outdoors. Soda Spring is always fun to check out, and get your pulse rate up on the fine whitewater of Hoffstadt Creek.
