trail has a total elevation difference of 1,553 feet which is about average. Zigzag Trail is a wet site that gets much rainfall; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is July. Some parts of Zigzag Trail are much higher up than other parts of the wilderness
trail, and that means that some parts of the wilderness trail could be very different from other parts of it. Zigzag Trail is a two ended wilderness trail with two trailheads, so backcountry hiking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. At Zigzag Trail throughout
the long summer days highs are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; nighttime lows at Zigzag Trail all through the winter ordinarily drop into the 30's. There are so many wilderness hiking trails in this
vicinity.
Briefly about the general area: Be careful coming to the Central Cascade Range, you might not ever want to go home again. Looking for some flowing water? Try Ward Creek, and a pleasant trip to Cooks Meadow is a nice way to spend an afternoon. You can run the
rapids of Hood River - East Fork in the neighborhood of Zigzag Trail, and while you're here at Zigzag Trail it's a great idea to stop by Horkelia Meadow. It's always pleasant to stop at Clinger Spring, and hey, Polallie Creek is a splendid local stream. That right there is
a load of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Central Cascade Range has it all. White River is a great whitewater spot close to Zigzag Trail. Camping is available at Nottingham Campground; Powder Springs is a pleasant local attraction. Zigzag Trail really is in the middle
of a stunning outdoors paradise. Camping at Clinger Campground is always a tremendous experience, and there are plenty of people from Hood River here.
