the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to West Eagle Trail. It is very arid here at West Eagle Trail commonly; throughout May this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is July. Backpacking trails like this one here in the Wallowa Mountains are a
good way to explore these highlands. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. The total elevation difference for West Eagle Trail is 554 feet which is lower than average. Pretty far from La Grande you bump into West Eagle Trail, but backcountry
backpacking it is always enjoyable.

Universal Spring is an inspiring location to pop by while here, and some of the water close by flows, like Grove Creek. Stay the night at Hells Canyon Packers, and getting to Jim Creek from West Eagle Trail is painless.
