This hiking trail has only one trailhead, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. Backcountry hiking here in the Central Cascade Range is a brilliant way to explore these summits. With its 8.6 miles of walking distance it's an average length backpacking
    and hiking trail. At parts of the year this region sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Different parts of Vista Ridge Trail are at very different elevations, and that means that some parts
of the backpacking and hiking trail could be very different from other parts of it. There are so many wonderful trails for backpacking in Oregon; Vista Ridge Trail is one of them, and it's in Hood River County. This is one of many wilderness hiking trails in the surrounding area. This great outdoors hiking trail is a mid length great outdoors hiking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a perfect wilderness hiking trail for experienced trekkers in wonderful shape. This hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 1,540 feet,  
and that is about average. Backpacking here in Oregon is the wonderful thing to do. At Vista Ridge Trail during the long summer days highs are in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Vista Ridge Trail. Keep in mind that this is a long great outdoors hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Vista Ridge Trail gets a lot of water; the month with most of the rain is December while July is mostly the driest month. Every Oregon trail is well worth a backcountry walk. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in location. The time needed for this walk is roughly 7.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.

Briefly about the general area:
Vista Ridge Trail is not far at all from Hood River, and Wallalute Falls is an inspiring place to visit during your stay. You simply have to fancy the Central Cascade Range. Get your heart pumping on the delightful whitewater of Hood River - Lake Branch.
Reservoir Campground is a great campground nearby; Leuthold Couloir is also a glorious spot to discover. These mountains rock, just check out all the cool things to do in the Central Cascade Range. Vista Ridge Trail is a good spot to visit for more than one day, Ladd Creek Campground is a good spot to camp nearby; since you're here, you could explore Compass Creek. A pleasant spree to Wy'east Basin is a brilliant way to spend an afternoon, and of course Stump Creek flows through this region.
Any time is a tremendous time at Vista Ridge Trail if you adore the outdoors. Cairn Basin is a delightful site any time of year, and a good spot for whitewater paddling is Hood River - West Fork.
