    the year this neighborhood sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. The high level of rain makes Tom Dick Trail a relatively wet spot; most of the rain falls throughout December, and July meanwhile
is the driest month. This is not a very long backcountry trail but it's always splendid to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. This hike shouldn't take more than 4.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Tom Dick Trail is to be found a relatively lengthy drive from Hood River, but backcountry trekking along this backcountry hiking trail is very enjoyable. Tom Dick Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. As long as you like the wilderness you will like Oregon.

Briefly about the general area:
A wonderful place like Summit Meadows here at Tom Dick Trail is too great to miss; Sand Canyon is another nice spot to explore nearby. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Central Cascade Range. If you came to camp High Cascade Snowboard Camp is a perfect place to do that, and get your pulse rate up on the good whitewater of Sandy River.
Tom Dick Trail is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Barlow Campground is a nice local campground, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Swim Creek. Yep, outdoors amusing stuff truly is bountiful here in the Central Cascade Range. It's always pleasant to have a look at Yocum Falls, and people from Hood River love to come here.
Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things near Tom Dick Trail. There's a forest here at Tom Dick Trail called Mount Hood National Forest, and a tremendous location for whitewater paddling is Zigzag River.
