Timberline Trail is not very near Hood River at all, but it is a splendid wilderness trail. In Oregon you never run out of outdoors fun. Timberline Trail is a quite wet site usually with a good deal of rainfall; December is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is July. Highs through the winter are usually in the 40's; through the dark hours in the winter at Timberline Trail temperatures sink to the 30's. These hiking and backpacking trails here in the Central Cascade Range are a very good way to see these summits. means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the backcountry hiking trail. If you happen to be in Oregon, why not go backcountry backpacking, it never gets boring. Timberline Trail is a very long hiking and backpacking trail with an average amount
of climbing distance which makes this backcountry trail wonderful for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. The total elevation difference for Timberline Trail is 3,731 feet, and that is higher
than average.
Briefly about the general area: Why not camp at Salmon River Campground if you're here at Timberline Trail, and whitewater paddling is nice on Hood River - West Fork. So much exciting stuff in the neighborhood of Timberline Trail, just mind-blowing. Visit
Compass Creek if you're here at Timberline Trail, and Switchback Falls is always fun to check out. Mount Hood National Forest is a glorious local forest, and if you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Hood River - Lake Branch. But wait,
there's more enjoyable stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range. Why not stop at Buzzard Point also while you're here, and naturally East Fork Salmon River is a scenic stream that is worth stopping at. Having a great time in the Central Cascade Range is uncomplicated. A good
location near Timberline Trail is Leuthold Couloir, and everybody loves Cairn Basin. During your trip to Timberline Trail you'll meet some people from Hood River for sure, and a spree to Devils Kitchen invigorates the soul. A glorious location to camp here at Timberline Trail is Nanitch Campground, and do put some time aside to spend at Ramona Falls since you're here at Timberline Trail.
