You'll have got to go far from Albany-Lebanon to get to Swamp Peak Trail, but backcountry hiking it is always fun. This is one of a very small number of backcountry hiking trails in this region.     December, that's the one that rains the most, and July on the other hand is the driest. The total elevation difference for Swamp Peak Trail is 981 feet which is a lower than average number. Swamp Peak Trail is 4.4 miles long it's an average length wilderness trail. Swamp Peak Trail
is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. At parts of the year this neighborhood sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Swamp Peak Trail is a one trailhead hiking trail, so you'll be trekking it in and back out. You should count on this walk taking about 4 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Camping at Tombstone Prairie Campground is always a splendid experience, and Swamp Peak Trail is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Country Star Recreational Vehicle Park is a brilliant local campground.
A quick tour to Butte Creek in close proximity to Swamp Peak Trail is a wonderful idea, and paddling on Santiam River - Middle is so much fun. Be careful coming to the Central Cascade Range, you might not ever want to go back home again. It's a good idea to go to No Man Creek, it's in the vicinity of Swamp Peak Trail; get soaked paddling on Santiam River - North.
