For the period of the summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Sunset Lake Trail. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures
    at Sunset Lake Trail descend into the 20's. There's not much difference in elevation along the wilderness hiking trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole wilderness hiking trail. There are so many wilderness hiking trails in this vicinity. This backcountry
walk shouldn't take more than 5.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Sunset Lake Trail is a mid-length backcountry trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough wilderness hiking trail for advanced hikers looking for a great challenge. Sunset Lake Trail is a quite wet place ordinarily with much rain; during the month of December you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is July. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. The total  
elevation difference for this trail is 275 feet, and that is lower than average. A long journey divides Bend from Sunset Lake Trail, but it is a really pleasant trail. Sunset Lake Trail is 6.6 miles long it's a mid length backcountry walk. The backcountry trails of the Central Cascade Range are a fine way to explore these highlands. There are numerous wilderness hiking trails in Oregon, and each one is worth backpacking. This wilderness hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry walk it normally. This part of Oregon is always a delight to have a look at during trekking season. Sunset Lake Trail is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip.

Whohoo, so much exciting stuff in one place! The Central Cascade Range is peerless! Elk Lake Springs is a lovely place to stop by while you're at Sunset Lake Trail, and a good place like Reserve Meadow here at Sunset Lake Trail is too nice to miss. Sunset Lake Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, East Lake Resort and RV Parks is a good local campground, and Island Meadow is right here at Sunset Lake Trail.
A short trip to Blacktail Spring is always worthwhile, and a great site to camp here at Sunset Lake Trail is Upper Campground.
