This backcountry hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 421 feet which is lower than average. Sometimes this great outdoors hiking trail gets really dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Being 2.8 miles long it's a shorter type backcountry trek. There's not much difference in elevation along Spruce Log Trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole wilderness hiking trail. You should count on this trek taking about 2.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Spruce Log Trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. Spruce Log Trail has two trailheads, so trekking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back.
