in the 80's, and the overnight is a little cooler of course, regularly in the 40's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at South Loop Cut Off are in the 20's. The wilderness trails of the Central Cascade Range are a tremendous way to explore
these peaks. This wilderness trail has a total elevation difference of 208 feet which is lower than average. Hiking in Oregon never gets boring. South Loop Cut Off is 3.8 miles long it's a shorter type hike. This trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency
supplies just in case something happens. Every single Oregon great outdoors trail is worth hiking. This is just one of a large number of backcountry hiking trails in this area. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go.
Briefly about the
general area: South Loop Cut Off is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Suttle Lake Resort and Marina is a perfect local campground; Santiam Pass is another wonderful place to go to nearby. Now, you may assume that's a load but there's even more amusing things to do
here in the Central Cascade Range. Douthit Spring is always fun to check out, and camping at Cold Springs Resort is always a splendid experience.
