Oregon hiking trails - South Loop Cut Off, Central Cascade Range, Linn County

   
  If you are in Oregon during backpacking season you have to go backpacking. Each one of the many backpacking trails of Oregon is well worth a backcountry walk. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and South Loop Cut Off in Linn County, Oregon is a great location to go. South Loop Cut Off stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. There are so many great outdoors hiking trails in this vicinity. Going for a backcountry walk here in Oregon
    is a fine idea. Wilderness hiking trails for hiking, and backpacking can be found all over Oregon; one of them being South Loop Cut Off in Linn County. South Loop Cut Off is located a pretty lengthy drive from Bend, but hiking along this wilderness trail is very enjoyable. Backcountry
trails like this one here in the Central Cascade Range are a very glorious way to see these highlands. This is not a very long hiking trail but it's always great to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. This backcountry hike shouldn't take more than 3 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. At parts of the year this area sees very little rain, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go.  
Through the days of summer highs here at South Loop Cut Off reach the 80's. Summer night lows dip down to the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are regularly in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at South Loop Cut Off dip into the 20's. South Loop Cut Off is a very short backcountry hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a glorious great outdoors hiking trail for the average person looking for a glorious adventure. This is a two-ended backpacking trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of trekking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. South Loop Cut Off is 3.8 miles long it's a short backpacking trail. The total elevation difference for South Loop Cut Off is 208 feet which is a lower than average number. A good deal of rain falls at South Loop Cut Off; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain; July on the other hand is the driest.

Briefly about the general area:
There's so much to do here at South Loop Cut Off that you need to camp here for a while, Suttle Lake Resort and Marina is a great site for that; Douthit Spring is a fine local attraction.
Having a fine time in the Central Cascade Range is uncomplicated. If you came to camp Cold Springs Resort is a splendid location to do that; you could always explore Santiam Pass.
