the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain while July is frequently the driest month. You should count on this backcountry trek taking about 7 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This wilderness trail sometimes gets very dry,
so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Each hiking and backpacking trail in Oregon has its own unique splendor.
Briefly about the general area:
Stay the night at Trough Creek Campground, and Oriental Basin is a great location. Glide down the rapids of John Day River - North Fork in a kayak, and why not take a little trip to North Fork Cable Creek while you're here.
Some nearby water includes Neeves Creek; do put some
time aside to spend at Hunter Spring since you're here at Round Meadow Trail. Any time is a great time at Round Meadow Trail if you love the outdoors. A spree to White Pine Trough Spring will fill your soul with great feelings. All the outdoors entertaining things in the Blue Mountains
will keep you coming back time and again. Places like Round Meadow are delightful to go to, and Round Meadow Trail is a great site to visit for more than one day, Lehman Hot Springs is a great site to camp nearby.
