When was the last time you got out in the outdoors a bit? Rimrock Trail in Wasco County, Oregon is such a great place. While visiting this vicinity in Oregon it's a glorious idea to go hiking too. Rimrock Trail has a total elevation difference of 274 feet which is lower than average. This is one of a very small number of backcountry hiking trails in this region. Hiking here in the Central Cascade Range     is a really wonderful way to spend quality time in the wilderness. Rimrock Trail is a one trailhead backpacking and hiking trail, so you're looking at an in and out walk. The wilderness trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. A lengthy journey separates Hood River from Rimrock Trail, but what a great place for backpacking it is. Being 3.4 miles long it's shorter than many wilderness trails. For the duration of the summertime months at Rimrock Trail highs are generally in the 60's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Rimrock Trail. Here in Oregon backcountry backpacking is so much fun. This wilderness hiking trail is on the short side with an   average amount of climbing distance which makes it an outstanding backcountry hiking trail for the average person looking for an outstanding adventure. This hike shouldn't take more than 3 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. There are numerous hiking and backpacking trails in Oregon, and each one is different from the others. Even though this is not a very long great outdoors hiking trail it's always fine to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. Rimrock Trail sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest month is July. Briefly about the general area: So much fun stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range, not enough time. If you came to camp Dam Campground is a pleasant location to do that, and you're sure to bump into some nice folks from Hood River here. Charity Spring is a pretty place to take a look at while you're at Rimrock Trail, and Rimrock Trail is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Nottingham Campground is a splendid local campground. Camas Creek is a good local stream. Get yourself into a kayak and hit White River, and why not a little side trip to Deep Creek.
