It's a long drive from Hood River to Portage Trail, but it is one of many great great outdoors trails in this vicinity. Each wilderness trail in Oregon has its own unique splendor. This is a vicinity covered with lots of great outdoors hiking trails. With so many outdoors endeavors available in Oregon you'll never get bored. Here in the good state of Oregon backcountry trekking is so much fun. Some parts of Portage
    Trail are much higher up than other parts of the backcountry trail, and that means that some parts of the backcountry trail could be very different from other parts of it. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in location. This is a one trailhead hiking
trail, so you'll be trekking it in and back out. This great outdoors hiking trail is a great outdoors hiking trail of good length having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a tremendous great outdoors hiking trail for experienced trekkers in good shape. The total elevation difference for this hiking trail is 3,422 feet which is higher than average. There are wilderness trails all over Oregon, and one of these is Portage Trail in Clackamas County. This is a hiking and backpacking trail that is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. All  
the water falling down from the sky makes Portage Trail a wet location; the month with most of the rain is December, and July meanwhile is the driest month. This neighborhood does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. Of course, this is an overnight hike, 1.5 days normally, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. With its 11 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer hike. Backcountry hiking trails like this one here in the Central Cascade Range are an excellent way to explore these mountains. Summer at Portage Trail arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and the nighttime is somewhat colder of course, frequently in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are frequently in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Portage Trail.

If you came for an overnight stay Twin Bridges Campground is a brilliant site to camp, and the fine people of Hood River like to hang out nearby. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Central Cascade Range. You can run the rapids of Hood River - Lake Branch near Portage Trail, and while you're here, you might as well explore Sand Canyon.
Don't leave Portage Trail without first paying a visit to Ramona Falls, and as expected Muddy Fork flows through this vicinity. So much entertaining stuff near Portage Trail, truly astonishing. Sandy River is a great whitewater spot close to Portage Trail It's always pleasant to visit Yocum Falls.
Eden Park is a nice location to stretch your legs a bit, and a quick trip to Rushing Water Creek is absolutely a pleasant idea. Yep, outdoors exciting stuff truly is abundant here in the Central Cascade Range. Why not camp at Barlow Campground while you're here at Portage Trail; Old Maid Flat is a stunning place any time of year.
