elevation difference for this great outdoors trail is 3,149 feet, and that is higher than average. Backcountry backpacking here in the Central Cascade Range is the best way to enjoy these summits. Summertime highs at Plaza Trail frequently tend to be in the 70's while overnight
lows are commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's; overnight lows at Plaza Trail through the wintertime commonly dip into the 30's.
Briefly about the general area: There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Central Cascade Range.
Don't forget to take a fine little trip to Welches Creek; Plaza Trail is great enough to spend more than a day at, Bighorn Campground is a great local campground. There are some glorious whitewater spots on Sandy River; of course Lymp Creek is a lovely stream that is worth taking
a look at. If you come at the right time of year, Zigzag River offers some brilliant whitewater. There's so much to do here at Plaza Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Mount Hood Village is a fine place for that.
