At parts of the year this neighborhood sees very little rain, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. The time needed for this backcountry trek is roughly 9 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This is a long backcountry trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Being 10 miles long; it's considered a longer backcountry walk. Peep Creek Trail has a total elevation difference of 1,043 feet which is about average. This is a two-ended backpacking trail with two trailheads, so hiking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. There's not much difference in elevation along the backcountry trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish.
